DWA INDIA: Empowering Rural & Tribal Communities in Rayalaseema
The Dalit Welfare Association (DWA) is committed to transformative community development, especially for the oppressed, down-trodden, and tribal communities in the Kurnool and Nandyal districts of Andhra Pradesh. Our mission centers on sustainable livelihoods, quality education, and improved health and sanitation, ensuring long-term social upliftment.
1. Sustainable Livelihoods & Economic Empowerment
Women Empowerment Programs
DWA actively promotes women empowerment by providing skills, resources, and livelihood opportunities, enabling women to become financially independent and self-reliant.
The Tailoring Program trained 50 young women in stitching, garment design, and provided them with sewing machines, helping them start home-based enterprises.
The Sheep Rearing Project and Dairy Development Project strengthened income generation for rural women, including support for 40 women through buffalo distribution.
Livestock & Farmer Support
To reduce poverty and improve rural incomes, DWA supports small and marginal farmers through agricultural training and essential infrastructure such as irrigation bore-wells, improving agricultural productivity.
2. Quality Education for Tribal & Rural Children
Scholarships & Learning Support
DWA prioritizes high-quality, inclusive education for disadvantaged youth.
Scholarships for 30 tribal children ensured continued schooling by covering fees, uniforms, books, and essential supplies.
Educational Infrastructure
We aim to establish schools, libraries, and vocational training centers to create long-term learning opportunities for rural youth and promote social inclusion.
3. Health Awareness & Sanitation Improvement
Preventive Healthcare Programs
Health challenges in rural areas often arise from poor sanitation, malnutrition, and lack of awareness.
Our Health Awareness Program reached 100 families, teaching hygiene practices such as safe drinking water, handwashing, nutrition, and waste management.
Healthcare & Social Well-Being
These efforts help reduce preventable illnesses and improve family well-being, especially among vulnerable tribal populations.
4. Social Support, Disaster Relief & Community Strengthening
Self-Help Groups & Social Awareness
DWA forms self-help groups, spreads consumer rights awareness, and educates communities on disease prevention, including AIDS awareness.
Disaster Relief & Humanitarian Action
During crises, DWA supports communities with emergency assistance.
During COVID-19, we provided essential relief to 574 families, ensuring safety and survival in vulnerable areas.
Stronger Communities, Better Futures
DWA continues working toward improving the social, educational, cultural, and moral standards of marginalized communities—building a future rooted in dignity, opportunity, and justice.
