2. Financial Support for Merit Students: Educational Upliftment for Tribal Communities

Overview

The Financial Support for Merit Students initiative addresses a critical challenge in tribal regions—lack of access to quality education due to poverty. Many academically capable children discontinue studies because their families cannot afford essential educational expenses.

Scholarship Support & Resources

The Dalit Welfare Association (DWA) provides scholarships that cover tuition fees, school books, uniforms, and learning materials. This reduces the financial burden on parents and ensures that students continue their education without interruption. DWA prioritizes tribal and economically marginalized youth, especially those showing academic promise.

Impact & Recent Activities

In the reported year, DWA supported 30 tribal students, enabling them to continue schooling with dignity and confidence. These scholarships have helped students like Rajesh, who is now progressing successfully in the 7th grade.

In 2022, the scholarship program—supported by NCT India with a budget of ₹3,00,000—benefited another 30 children, creating long-term educational pathways for tribal youth.

Long-Term Benefits

This intervention helps break the cycle of poverty, improves literacy levels, and encourages more families to prioritize education. The program also promotes social inclusion by ensuring that tribal students stay connected to mainstream education systems.
